Choose a reliable host for your WordPress install

Everyone knows that a reliable host is important for your website or blog.

WordPress itself recommends a few hosting providers on their website; we always recommend Bluehost and WPWebHost.

Today shows again why a reliable hosting company is so important!
100413wptweetThis tweet links to an article by Matt Mullenweg on the WordPress blog where he blames a hosting provider for cooking up a story about some new WordPress vulnerability:

If you’re a web host and you turn a bad file permissions story into a WordPress story, you’re doing something wrong.

In between the time that Matt has published his article and time of writing of this post, the hosting provider (Network Solutions) has tried its best to cover up its mistakes, fortunately however there is the Google cache:
original post Network Solutions

That same article now links to some complete different content, as you can see here.

There are many ways to secure your WordPress install – soon we will write an article on that subject – but a properly configured web server is the responsibility of the hosting provider!

A hosting provider that cooks up stories and starts blaming WordPress for its own shortcomings does not show any responsibility!

So if you are serious about your blog or website and you would like to keep your valuables safe (as you do offline too with your other valuable things in life), then make sure that you choose right when choosing a hosting provider!

Which hosting provider do you use and why? And do you have any previous bad experiences with (other) provider(s)?

  1. Are these most reliable website hosting providers also fast enough? I tested several wordpress based websites (…) and found them to build the pages rather slow. And we are talking about one of the three mentioned providers.

    • Hi Maurice, thx for stopping by. “fast enough” of course is very subjective and depends largely on your needs. Do you find WPTIPS fast enough?
